Great Lakes Airlines – US Airways announce new ticketing agreement
Joplin Business Journal

CHEYENNE, Wyo. And JOPLIN, Mo. — Great Lakes Aviation, Ltd. (OTC Bulletin Board: GLUX.OB) announced March 26 that the company has formed a partnership with US Airways to allow for Interline Electronic Ticketing when the itinerary includes a flight on both carriers.

This is a unilateral agreement, meaning all tickets must be issued on US Airways electronic ticket stock, therefore Great Lakes is unable to issue or make changes to an electronic ticket that includes a US Airways flight.  The agreement allows passengers to purchase a ticket through their travel agent, online booking engines such as Expedia or Travelocity, or directly through US Airways and receive one electronic ticket for the entire itinerary, allowing for seamless transition of passengers and luggage.

Another perk to this agreement is if a change is made to a reservation, only one change fee applies.

Currently, passengers have to purchase 2 separate tickets – one on Great Lakes and one on US Air – and a change to the itinerary would incur a fee for each airline involved. Passengers that are members of US Airways’ “Dividend Miles” program would continue to receive their miles for the US Airways flights. This partnership does not allow for the accrual or redemption of miles within US Airways’ frequent flier program for the Great Lakes portion of the trip.

Great Lakes Airlines entered into a similar agreement with Continental Airlines in August 2007 and anticipates partnerships with other major airlines in the near future.

Great Lakes is providing scheduled passenger service at 65 airports in seventeen states with a fleet of Embraer EMB-120 Brasilias and Raytheon/Beech 1900D regional airliners.  A current route map may be viewed at http://www.flygreatlakes.com/route_map/route_map.htm.

All scheduled flights are operated under the Great Lakes Airlines marketing identity in conjunction with code-share agreements with United Airlines and Frontier Airlines at their Denver, Phoenix, and Billings hubs. Code-share agreement with only United at their Kansas City and Ontario hubs; and only Frontier at their Albuquerque hub.  The company also operates hubs in Milwaukee and St. Louis.
