| Donald D. Dailey, commander's representative at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Kan., was recognized by the U.S. Army with the Commanders Award for Civilian Service during the recent deactivation ceremony at the base.
The presentation was made by Col. Arnold P. Montgomery, commander, McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, McAlester, Okla. According to the letter of citation, Dailey "distinguished himself from Dec. 1, 2005 to Dec. 1, 2008 for his oversight of the first ever Army Base Realignment and Closure of a government-owned, contractor-operated plant. With the added duty of Base Transition Coordinator, he developed the trust and respect of both the public and local government with his confidence and professional conduct. These achievements reflect great credit upon himself, the U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command and the Department of the Army."
Dailey, a 1974 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering, came to Kansas AAP in 1986 as a chief engineer for the U.S. Army. He moved up quickly to the position of contract operations officer in 1992, and was elevated to his current assignment in 1996.
