MIAMI, Okla. — The latest in attractions, dining, entertainment and recreational opportunities offered in Miami, Okla., are featured in the newly released 2009 edition of the Miami Visitor Guide.
The full color, 48-page guide will serve as a valuable resource for visitors planning to travel to Miami and the Ottawa County area. Complete with a new enhanced design and reader-friendly layout; the guide offers something for everyone seeking to learn more about things to do and see in the area.
New to the guide in 2009 are themed sections that highlight historical facets of the community. Readers will find information about the National Registry of Historic Places, walking tours, an expanded section of NEO A&M College, a complete list of accommodations and area casinos, and much more.
Dr. Ron Gilbert, local business owner and board member for the Miami CVB, sees the added information as a strong tool in getting our message out to those planning upcoming trips.
"Our organization continues to work to promote Miami as a destination," says Dr. Gilbert. "In addition to Route 66 Attractions and Gaming, it is important to educate visitors in everything we offer. Many travelers and tour planners do not realize the opportunities that we provide. The guide gives them a comprehensive overview and offers itineraries to encourage them to stay another day and experience all of Miami."
The Miami Visitor Guide is the official publication of the Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. Sixty-five thousand copies have been printed and distribution is already in place in many markets. According to Amanda Davis, CVB program director, requests for the guide are increasing rapidly.
"We experienced a 70 percent increase in distribution this year. We have added the Certified Folder Program into our marketing plan for 2009. This places 32,000 guides in new markets in Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma," said Davis.
She also noted that visitors can request guides through the Oklahoma Travel and Recreation Department at www.travelok.com. For those traveling along Interstate 44 and throughout Oklahoma, the Miami CVB has placed guides at all 12 travel information centers state-wide.
"Getting the word out about Miami is our job and this guide captures the imagination of travelers and provides them with information needed when planning a trip to our area," Davis added.
Copies of the free guide are available now and can be obtained by calling the Miami CVB at (918) 542-4435. Requests can also be made online at www.visitmiamiok.com.
