JOPLIN, Mo. — Missouri Southern State University’s Board of Governors elected Dwight Douglas of Joplin, to serve as chairman of the board for the 2008-2009 fiscal year.
Rod Anderson, Monett, was selected as vice chairman of the board. Jane Wyman, a Joplin attorney, served in this role the past year. Her current term on the board expires Aug. 30.
Douglas was appointed to the board in 2003 to fill the term of Stephen Carlton. He was reappointed in February 2006 for a term that ends in 2011. He has served as chairman in 2004-05, 2006-07 and 2007-08.
Douglas is an attorney in the Neosho law firm of Douglas & Douglas and serves as corporate counsel for Freeman Neosho Hospital. He also has served on the Missouri Safe Drinking Water Commission and is a former member of the Southwest Missouri State University Board of Regents. Mr. Douglas received his law and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Anderson was first appointed to the MSSU board in 2003. He filled a position on the created by the signing of Senate Bill 55. He is vice president at Produce Brokers and Distributors, Inc. He graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors and a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Management from Missouri Southern in 1976.
The Board also re-elected Linda Eis Board Treasurer and Sharon Odem Board Secretary
