JOPLIN, Mo. — Tri-State Motor Transit Co. recently purchased Springfield-based Wilcox Truck Line Inc. Wilcox operates 55 tractors, owns more than 40 trailers, and operates several additional trailers owned by the U.S. Postal Service.
Wilcox services mail routes in Missouri, Iowa, Colorado, and Tennessee and has hubs in Springfield, Kansas City, Des Moines, and Denver. The company engages in several truckload routes a day from their hubs to Kansas City. Wilcox is also responsible for three daily routes between Joplin and Springfield.
Tri-State's over-the-road experience has included the Postal Service, and because it had status as a Postal Service approved carrier the transaction went smoothly. It will seek to expand Wilcox's business by making bids for additional contracts in the region.
