This week, Apple will be launching the new iOS 16.3 update. It will be available for iPhone 8 and newer models. The update includes a variety of different new features like bug fixes and a Physical Security Key. This will enable a better and more user-friendly experience. The update had already available for access to the Public beta testers.
Release Date
Apple made the initial beta version available on December 14 and sent the release candidate to beta testers on January 18. It is expected to release the final version to the general public on either January 24th or 25th 2023.
New Features of iOS 16.3
- New Emergency SOS: iOS 16.3 is adding two new ways to access the Emergency SOS via Sattelite. To make a call and enable the alarm,, the user will need to press the Call with Hold and Release buttons. This makes the mode more easily accessible. The other option is Call Quietly which enables the call without setting the alarm on.
-
Advanced-Data Protection: The iOS 16.2 release provided American iPhone users with the Advanced Data Protection feature. This new security measure offers end-to-end encryption for Apple’s iCloud storage service, ensuring the security of information stored in the cloud. Additionally, Apple has announced that it would make this feature available to other regions with a future iOS release.
- Bug fixes available in iOS 16.3: A major issue addressed in this update is related to a bug that caused horizontal lines to appear on some iPhone 14 Pro Max models when the phone was waking up. Additionally, this release also addresses various problems with Siri, CarPlay, and the lock screen on iPhone.
- Homepod handoff Prompt: iOS 16.3 beta adds a new prompt to transfer/hand off music from an iPhone to a HomePod.
These are the major new features that beta testers will encounter in the iOS 16.3 beta. However, it’s not certain that these are the only features that will be included in the upcoming iOS update. Apple may add more features before its official release.
